Charlie’s Approach to the Construction Business is simple . . .
“Be honest. Be punctual. Follow through. I started on the building path at 9 years old and established my own company in 1980. So I have seen a lot.
I have learned to listen to customers and interpret their wishes. I communicate closely with other workers on the job. I plan ahead to make sure the project flows smoothly, efficiently and devoid of complications.
Both Hilary and I understand the challenges involved in seeing projects through from concept to completion. When we are hired, we commit to working consistently to do the job right the first time.”
Hilary’s Approach to Design Follows a Basic Formula . . .
“Meet and examine. Define: style, budget, timeline. Source and compare. Review and refine. Realize!
Whether I’m designing for Charlie or a client, there is always a lot of communication. We begin by discussing the scope of work. We clarify style preference, budget and timeline. In the the creative and sourcing phases, I always have an eye toward the cost and availability of a material. Depending on the client’s wishes, I can serve as a guide or a director. As the project progresses, I frequently review and verify the compatibly of all the elements. In the final phase of construction, I become the mistress of quality control checking products and working closely with the construction crew.”
Sustainability
At Dimock Construction we are always aware that land development and alteration requires a special consideration for the environment. We do our best to minimize our footprint by using ecological building materials and techniques.
From the design and placement of our original floor plans in new construction to the reuse of salvaged products in a renovation or the installation of antique materials, we remember that our natural resources are precious.
A well placed, dual pane window helps to moderate a home’s temperature and keeps it’s heating and cooling bill down. A low flow, dual flush toilet respects our limited water supply. A single panel, antique hardwood door with old glass and brass hardware offers great character, as well as, saving a tree.
We both have direct experience with the California “Build it Green” Green Building certification process. Recently we completely gutted and redesigned a vintage 1970’s property following the state’s modern day guild lines for sustainability. The end result was a completely updated and healthy residence which was awarded a gold level certification.
