Charlie Dimock
Charlie was born and raised in New England. He is a second generation builder and entered the business immediately following high school. In 1980, he moved to Tahoe and started Charlie Dimock Construction Company, working on new construction of large estates in Incline Village, Nevada.
In 1988 Charlie moved to San Diego and re-established his company there. Within 16 years, he remodeled more than 100 houses, built and sold five new houses, bought and sold more than 50 properties including single family homes, apartment buildings and commercial properties.
Charlie and Hilary met in 1998. She had an extensive background in design. She joined his team officially in 2002. That year he also secured his real estate license as a way to streamline his own real estate acquisitions.
Another move to Mendocino in 2004, offered more potential to develop open land. He built three more spec homes and the first low impact, multi-unit property in the town of Fort Bragg. He also began working formally as a real estate agent. Between 2006 and 2010, Charlie worked for two well established brokerages in Fort Bragg and Mendocino before opening his own office.
By 2013, old friends in San Diego were raving about Southern California’s recovering market. Ready for more action Charlie and Hilary moved back to San Diego.
Hilary grew up in Los Angeles. Her father was an engineer and her mother was an educator. They shared a keen interest in art, design and architecture and they supported Hilary’s early creative drive.
As a young adult, Hilary attended California State University at Long Beach where she completed the Graphic Design program in 1988. Over the course of 25 years, Hilary worked for many of the top boutique design firms and advertising agencies in Los Angeles area. Further, she taught Graphic Design courses (Photoshop, Illustrator and Typography) at Santa Monica College from 1997-1999.
After meeting Charlie, Hilary relocated to San Diego in 1999. For a time she continued working in the graphics field there. However, by 2000 Charlie convinced her to join his company and focus on Residential Design. Since then, she has divided her time between the promotion of Dimock Real Estate and Construction and designing interior spaces, landscape design, selecting colors, and sourcing materials and finishes for new and re-newed construction.
Charlie Dimock Construction Company was established in 1980
As a young man working for other contractors in Incline Village, Nevada, Charlie worked as a carpenter, a plumber and an electrician. No job was too small. No deadline was too tight. The projects were abundant and the budgets were large. So he learned a lot about quality and responsibility. There was plenty of competition, too. Absenteeism or sub-par work were not an option. Years later, in California, he applied those ethics to all his projects regardless of the budget.
Over the years, Charlie has worked on a wide variety of residential and commercial projects. Whether it is an addition, remodel or completely new construction, from permits to ‘turn-key’ completion, his approach is consistent. Honesty, discipline and respect are ever present. He is conscientious about cost, materials, safety and the environment. And he always tries to maintain a good sense of humor.
